Promote Your Personal Site or Your Get Paid To Surf Site

There are certain rules that you must learn about promoting your website. Stick with these and you should be fine. I have been promoting websites for a while now and this is how I always have done in. The traffic will come, don't you worry.

  • Most Importantly, never loose faith. Be patient, if at first they don't come, try and try again. Slowly you will get more people and the traffic will keep coming as long as you continue to campaign.
  • Secondly, never spam anyone. Spamming is when you go to message boards or e-mail people that you do not know. It is illegal and it is a federal offense, with fines and all.
  • Finally, keep at it. The more people you tell, the better your site will do. If you are persistant, then your search engine rankings will go up and you will get more people to your site.
Stick with those rules and you should do just fine, and I hope you prosper like I did and still do. Good luck and read on to learn more on how to promo.

Types Of Promotional Techniques

Free For All Pages (FFA) -

FFAs are a valueable commodity. What you do with FFAs is post a link on a site with a header on it and people can click on that header to go to your page. The most important part of FFAs is the header. Make sure it is something that catches your attention or people are just going to look right over it. Another handy thing about FFA pages is that when someone posts a link onto an FFA page the owner of the site gets to send a conformation e-mail. In the conformation e-mail you can put a little promotion for your site. There are a couple different programs that let you do this. Click on the FFA page to find them.

Classified Advertisements -

Classified Ads may be the most useful tool to get attention to your site for a short time. It is easy and it takes about 30 seconds to do. All you do is fill in some info about yourself and what you are promo-ing and then a quick little description. Some pages give you free ads while others make you pay (some have both). Paying has its benefits if you don't mind spending the money. It doesn't cost that much to do (I have seen some where it is only 5 cents). Click on the Classified Ads to take a look at them.

Banner Exchanges -

Banner exchanges are very nice to put on your website. Look down at the bottom of this page to see an example of them! All you do with them is sign up and put a code at the bottom of your personal web page. Every time someone comes to your site and the program's banner is shown, you get your banner shown on someone else's page that is in the network of the program.

Message Boards -

Message boards are basically the same as FFA pages except with Message Boards you get to write a description of your page so people can know more about it before they come. On the more popular boards your message will disappear pretty quickly but you might get more hits.

Reciprical Links -

These links are when you try to get someone linked to your page if you put a link of their page onto your own site. It helps with search engine rankings so that you get higher up on the chain and more people come to your site. It is usually free and and always a good thing to do.

Search Engines -

Make sure you submit to the search engines. The best way to submit is to click on the AddMe icon below this paragraph. To get recognized by the search engines, you need a lot of hits, links to your site, and sometimes having a good webpage doesn't hurt and winning some awards. Just work on promoting and then your search engine rankings will rise. Make sure you go to my Recipricol Links to get more links to you.

Others -

Other techniques include guestbooks, word of mouth, working it into a conversation on an instant messanger, using a signature in e-mails or boards, and whatever else you can think of.
